Most made up stories use either Christianity or Islam as the base for their made up religion. I've read so many that use Christianity as the base and I can't begin to count how many have an evil Pope or Clergyman. People arent super creatuve in the since that they can completely make up something from the ground up without some sort of inspiration. Either of these real religions aren't actually like that. So I wouldn't take it to heart or interpret it that deeply.

Tbf almost all religions have been posited as bad guys in multiple manhwas. Stepmother's Marchen which has the same artstyle as this has the entire Church as antagonists. Ntm that in here, the sorcerers arent exactly bad guys. They're just ppl who dont like those who literally committed genocide against them out of hearsay.
