Lmafo sure, lemme cook. Spoilers ofc. Note that this might not be 100% accurate
So this is like, the lore of the story.


Paljae is in a god, specifically the "black tortoise of winter" n shit. Paljae got no emotions meaning he's not fit to be a ruler since he wants to get everything he wants. They fight him and the gods/ascendants kick his ass, and he's rly hurt. So he goes down to the human realm and starts eating tons of ppl like fruit snacks bc they help him heal faster.

Ok for Ryeong (not be 100% accurate, aight?). So Ryeong's dad's country is going to war (we just gonna call him dad). He has a childhood friend with a wife and kids. Their country is losing and ironically they're taking soldiers from the other side. Dad is like "we gotta take this opportunity while we have the chance" and Dad's friend is like "nahh bro I got a family im staying here and fighting". So Dad's like ok I'm leaving you bye. Fast forward Dad has a good position in the other army as general or smth. One day a soldier bring Dad's friend's head and shows it to Dad. Dad goes fucking apeshit and runs out, angry at himself for betraying his country. So he cuts his tongue (i don't understand what the reason was). Now he's running through the forest with a bloody tongue and he finds , guess who, baby ryeong on the forest floor. He's like "its a message from god, i can take care of this baby and atone for my sins". So he takes the baby and runs to a nearby village.
Fast forward again, turns out baby ryeong had "the markings of an ascendant" (im just going to assume this means he's like...suited to be an ascendant). So he's a bit grown up now and can see peoples future deaths.

This is where the timeline get's a lil confusing because it's explained in different arcs. Gonna start calling him ari since it's the story
So it's: kid ari leaves for 6 months and meets paljae > then dismisses it as a long dream then grows up and meets master > becomes an ascendant > commits the crime of killing his master and another grave crime that we can only speculate about (possibly letting paljae out of jail, but we'll never know) > goes to ieodo n chills there > present time

A few things to know at this point. Dad is mute + Ari doesn't get sick + Ari's skin burns under the skin tho + Ari is an outcast in the village bc of the white hair


this is how ari meets paljae. Ari can see everyone's future death but for some reason can't see his dads. He's rly worried abt this and wants to make as much money as possible to gtfo there bc he has a feeling it'll happen in that village. So he's doing everything he can, selling talismans ect. He finds some expensive looking earrings and wants to sell them. Dad is flabbergasted since the earrings are something close to him from his friend. Ari is like "we need to sell it so you live" and dad is like hell no. So Ari gets rly angry and runs off, like "suit yourself". Typical kids


Now Ari is running away to a nearby village. He sees tons of bodies there (bodies that paljae devoured) and runs to a different village. He sees tons of bodies there too and worries about his dad. He tries to go back home but gets attacked by a tiger. He's on the forest floor now bloodied n bleeding out. He hears the tiger again but it's actually paljae. Paljae notices that ari stops the pain from his fight so he takes him with him.
Paljae takes him back to his cave where he's been healing a and keeps him there. Ari cracks a plan to escape but realizes that the more he's with paljae the more he can go out into the sun, so he kind of sticks around.

It's gettin a bit lengthy so I'll omit some things

They live there for 6 months (I assume) until Paljaes pursuers disturb the peace and Paljae sends ari off somewhere safe in a giant tortoises mouth. Paljae fights them and gets cornered. Ari finds his way back to paljae and takes a big attack for him. Ari is dying now so paljae runs off with him. Ari dies and paljae is like "hell no" and literally goes to the afterlife of children to fetch his soul. Now paljae leaves him in some water and we don't know what happens next


Ok now for the part where he meets his master. So Ari finds his way back home after the whole thing with paljae. He continues growing up and at this point does anything to get money. He prostitutes himself because a friend said it makes good money. he he fings this batshit crazy dude who's head over heels for him. Spoiler alert, the crazy dude is here to find the "traitor" aka Dad.

Fast forward crazy dude is like "if i cant put a baby in you im gonna cripple u". Ofc ari finds him fucking insane. So he kills ryeongs dad infront of him and leaves him. Then his master comes out of nowhere and beats him up then asks him if he wanna live. He says yes so his master takes him off heaven (I assume) to become an ascendant

That's like the main plot...We rly don't know what happened in his ascendant years ╮(￣▽￣)╭
If you'd like to know anything specific I'll tell ya cause I can't fit it all in here or it'll be a whole ass essay

That's a great question ☠ Honestly I'm as confused as you are but here's what I got lmaoo
So his powers are, I assume, being able to see peoples deaths + having the construct of an ascendant + not being able to get sick?

his master seals his memories and makes him blind right. But I really don't know what happened with his powers cause there's hints that he still might have them
Like in the first chapter in that gray flashback part and when he predicted that something bad would happen on that ship in that island demon part

So it's not really his eyes power its more like his memories are sealed and he still has his power? I think? But anyways. Master puts cinnabar on his eyes and does something that buries his memories, and makes him blind in the process
