I find it hard to pity his predicament because he used his two left feet to go there.
He could've kept the baby dokkebi with him in the human world but instead returned for no good reason.
Now he's pretending to cry like he genuinely didn't know this would be the outcome.
Like what else did he hope to achieve with his presence?
People seem to forget that this is his back story and basically what pushed him to do all the things he did in the future.
It doesn't stop his actions from being evil, but it exposes his journey into becoming the Sociopathic, obsessive, self centered Tyrant we see today and his kind of reasoning.
People who're calling him "Evil" like he's always been that way are just privileged and are lucky to have never suffered a suffering where no one has ever given a rats ass about you, and you had to do all manner of debasing things to get to where you are. All this while being VERY self aware.
It's easier for people who aren't very self aware to move on from this kind of abuse, but when you've lived this kind of a life whilst being so aware of it and the reasoning behind it, it only ever feels your life with darkness and bitterness.
Funnily enough, it's part of what his father saw in him, that made him want to break his spirit.
From this back story, I can easily say that his personality finally makes sense, and he is not an inherently evil character, rather his evil side was nurtured in him by his upbringing.
Again, not saying a lot of his evil actions can be justified, no they cannot, because most of his victims have nothing to do with what he suffered, so that's another case.
Yeah it makes sense why he over reacts to everything because he probably thinking that he is being looked down upon still like everyone did to him. No one has ever told him that what he went through was fucked up and he is obviously in a state of constant battle. Like where the older brother reappears was the first time we saw a whole new look in his eyes. He’s gonna have to confront what we really went through now that he is an adult and one of his abusers is still alive. Definitely not justified but it brings a lot of understanding.
I pity sejin but I do not blame Kwon Ido for his reaction. Compared to what Sejin deserved, he was being very lenient by just giving him the silent treatment. If this story was in Idos POV y'all would be hating on Sejin, grow up
True but he also kinda a bitch in the beginning even if Sejin came from the family of Haeshin.. he could’ve just kept it cordial and business like. But demeaning him and forcing heat suppressants on him is not cute even if the situation at the time was dire for Sejin lol. I get it though he couldn’t be bothered but then why intervene so much if he’d felt like it was all too much. The side stories helped answer with his POV so I was content
I agree though that Ido isn’t totally at fault and that Sejin also has some blame in the communication breakdown
Yh cos he hated his father and thought Sejin was some two faced conniving creature, that's why he was acting prickly with Sejin initially he started to realize that Sejin wasn't and started liking him just to be betrayed by Sejin who admittedly due to his upbringing couldn't even communicate properly. So from his POV Sejin deceived him just like he initially thought Sejin would, we the readers can empathize with Sejin because we're seeing things from his POV but the reality of it is that Sejin is quite literally hard to read for everyone else cos no one knew he well enough to until Ido regressed.
First of all, i don't know what that fortune is, so you're right about that. I don't understand.
Second, here's the op:
"I pity sejin but I do not blame Kwon Ido for his reaction. Compared to what Sejin deserved, he was being very lenient by just giving him the silent treatment. If this story was in Idos POV y'all would be hating on Sejin, grow up"
I disagreed with this post because i know his pov and that makes me blame him more. "What Sejin deserved" is same thing Ido deserved. If Ido thinks it's right for him to punish Sejin then he also should be punished. Ido doesn't deserve to feel betrayed in the first place because his og plan was to betray. He's frustrated because of his pride, he's not even aware of his feelings for Sejin yet. He hates how he was beaten in his own game. He has the "I can do it to him but he can't do it to me" mentality.
*****spoiler*****
And this mentality will lead him to grape and forcefully imprint Sejin after he tries to leave and asks for divore.
I'm replying to you after reading further in the novel so thank you for the spoilers but I already know what happens and I still stand by my point of view.
Both of them made mistakes but both of their mistakes were from miscommunication.
Both are good people in my mind so I don't like it when ppl blame only Ido. With as much trust issues and temper I have, I can understand Ido more than Sejin.
Ido deserves to feel betrayed Cuz he really took great care of Sejin after he started having feelings for him.
Anyone who had the person they loved and the person who loved them, betray them, deserves to feel betrayed.
Ido is far better than most male leads so I don't understand your superficial understanding of his clearly portrayed character or you just simply don't understand humans well enough yet to understand why he does what he does.
Anyway, I stand by the OP.

This is the first toxic, rape filled BL that actually got me angry. It's beautifully written and very realistic too, which makes me hate the Crown Prince all the more. I love the fact that the characters are complex and well fleshed out but I cannot bring myself to picture an ending where the the Uke forgives the crown prince, I don't know how thats supposed to happen.
Anyways i'll keep reading to see where this goes.
