I’m not sure how to word my thoughts properly, so sorry about this rant!
I’m absolutely fascinated by the leila possessing Yvonne. When I read the novel a few years ago, it was a bad translation that made it sound like an immortal goddess monster named Leila was possessing her. But it turns out the girl is actually a young and insignificant member of the evil leila tribe. She talked about having brothers and family members locked in the mirror, and it seems like her entire tribe’s survival hinges on her.
Obviously she’s very evil and has no regard for human life outside of her tribe members, but I’m really curious about her as an individual. We don’t even know her actual name!! Her mentioning her family members kinda snapped me out of viewing her as a symbolic representation of pure evil and allowed me to see her as a character making horrible choices for a reason. None of her actions are justified though obviously. I just really want to know more about her as a person, instead of as a plot device for ushering in the apocalypse.
I love your view about Leila! I'm also really curious bout her tribe as a whole!
Before they had destroyed the world. We know their tribe and the magicians have a history, I'm hoping we could delve into how the hatred between the two groups formed.
Actually to rephrase, it would to dig deep on why the Leila tribe had decided to destroy the world. We know Leila is avenging her siblings/family but from what I remember she never mentioned their objective/reason before they were trapped.
A tribe considered as evil by the world but the Leila's first thought after escaping is their trapper family instead of completing their main goal....
