Am I just showing my age, here, when seeing the nick name “Tennessee” just reminds me of Indiana Jones (which was also a nick name… in fact it was the name of the family dog)? Its not particularly revolutionary for a fictional character.

And the title, “Amber Alert” is actually quite appropriate to the story, on top of being a play on ML’s name. What do you think was that alarm going off in Tennessee’s head every time a younger Amber hinted at or outright confessed to him? Granted, it was less of a “child is kidnapped/missing” alarm and more of a “child is in danger, trying to be jailbait”, or, alternately, “child is in danger… of his life being ruined by getting so attached to me)” alarm. It’s the alarm he mentions isn’t working correctly in the present-day scene at the beginning of the very first chapter, when Amber kisses him, cuz between his face-blindness and not seeing Amber for a while, he can’t recognize the child he knew in the man before him. And from that point on in the story’s present, he never hears that alarm again.

Oh geez… and I hadn’t even gotten to the flashback of when they first met. How are people confused about how “Amber Alert” applies to the story? His psychological “alarm” makes even more sense now…
