Just like everyone else, I ran here after episode 12 I want closure for our bois!! I wish Hirose finished what he was going to say about the valentines day chocolates, but I also wish Nakamura ran after him too. All in all, I wish they would be together because the writing is on the walls at this point. Apparently we won't get a volume 3 so I hope an anime original ending does this story justice

The manga is on hiatus and technically not finished, do you know for certain what the mangaka has planned and you personally know their plans on how the story ends? Also you don't know if the people who worked on the anime were or weren't working with the mangaka to bring the story to life either.
The manga was never on hitaus, and it is finished. This manga is a single volume, I know this because I read this manga before it got an anime and before it got a second sequel to the manga. If the mangaka wanted to changed the whole plot of their story in the anime, then Nakamura would have ended up with Hirose.
If the author wanted to continue the story with a third sequel, they would have done it before it got an anime, or probably done it less than 4 years ago.
