I would not be surprised if the author is a polsci or history student. The level of detail they are putting into this world building shows they clearly have a purpose. They're trying to reimagine post-mercantilism with some sort of people's rule while keeping concentrated powers in check. It's so obvious this is not just a manhwa - this is a quest to play out a vision.
I don't even care about Ian and the present. I just want to see this world continue.

I knew the story was going to take a turn somehow and that the character growth was going to be painfully slow because of how she has been writing this, subverting every trope within this larger bad joy-nice boy trope in the genre.
And because I have literacy skills instead of a vindictive morally self-righteous attitude towards this story, I am relishing the sweeeeet pay off
What about disliking rape is vindictive morally and self righteous? I didn't mean to like your comment, just the opinions on this manhwa... So like, it's??? Wait so okay yeah so how does being nice for a handful on panels and having a tragic background redeem being cruel for the majority of the manhwa...????? I'm so lost it js doesnt seem like sweet payoff, idc if i'm being too woke but yaoi is always a den of heavily internalized misogyny, and considering Dan's proximity to the female identity, don't even deny it he looks like a masc lesbian and he's embodied every feminine trope you could ever get, it just sends the message of "ladies! If your husband is rich and can apologise in time for you to not kill yourself! Forgive hiiimmmmm!!!!" Like you know the girl on tiktok that's like "just cos I got a black eye and he cheated on me once, I should leave the love of my life?" If u were to see that you'd think she's a crazy ass bitch so why is it self righteous to want Can to think the same thing??? I'M JUST SO LOSTTT OMG
