I think sociopaths are generally misunderstood in this case. Being a sociopath can simply mean being withdrawn from their emotions, which can be being insensitive or the lack of understanding thereof. Emotions or feelings are happiness, sadness, anger, lust, or even jealousy. In essence, the parts of the brain handling that aspect have weaker connections. Other physiological mechanisms or reactions handled by different parts of the brain can still occur, which includes erection, and the corresponding sensations.
To someone like the mc, the thrill (excitement) of killing may invoke similar sense of feeling that he finds interesting or new. (Though I dont think thats the case, as he kills only when necessary and done towards a purpose or for his self-interest). Though some may associate those tendencies in their sexual interest, one cannot definitively say that thrill always confer sexual excitement or that sexual excitement can only be derived from the sensation of thrill

Your question piqued my interest and knowing the topic i had to leave my thoughts. I think it still makes clear sense for the mc to be able to do it despite the lack of emotional attachment because unless he have some sensory impairment, that physiological reaction can still happen. He can still feel pain and may even have heightened sensation, but still do not understand the emotions that may be associated with feeling it.

This is my opinion only. Since he is like emotionless and numb. Hence feelings and actions differs. Even in the novel it didnt explain anything. He acts where the situation fits, having the blue spirit guidance what makes it differs because she is reprimanding Mok Guns actions and explaining everything. Because no one taught him whats this or that. Along throughout the journey you will see he will change also. ;)
