Its just a cycle at this point. Dominic was nothing but trash to Ashley. Ashley in turn was also horrible to his kids, while he doesnt beat them to death everyday, he neglected his kids emotionally and see them as a threat (a dominant alpha is already hard to raise but limiting their time with Koi who can provide stability to the kids was bad. Ironic that Ashley turned out to be just like his dad and his childrens turned out to be dominant alpha capable of love unlike their grandfather.
Ruby has grown stronger and I cant stress enough how I love her character development. She's no longer alone and fighting on her own.

Yuri is so calm, content and hes not miserable. Others might find him boring even in the novel. But he compliments Xinlu's personality a lot. Not to mention his patience with Xinlu. Theres only Yuri who can be supportive and kind to Xinlu with all his flaws laid bare and still feel content liking him just like that.
