I think it's because they are trying to get rid of the second ml lol. The second ml has this complex past and it threatens the main ml that's why I think it's necessary to get it all out in the open so he can move on from his back story and become an actual member of the empire or smth

This is my opinion by the way guys so please don’t hate me. I love messsd up tragic characters I’m an avid lover for dark romance for a reason so I was so excited for this story I loved the guy with black hair and golden eyes and all the messsd up character honestly so I was hoping she would end up with one of them. I’m disappointed she ends up with the pink haired guy he’s boringly nice and ugh this story has such potential to be an amazing dark romance but no it’s a nice fluffy romance kind of cause the guy is so good. If feels like wasted potential
