yoshiki knows his best friend, and the thing that came down from the mountains is not his best friend. think of the age-old story archetype of a “changeling” and turn it up to 100. the cicadas are buzzing, the crickets are chirping, and the ghost wearing your best friend’s skin beckons to you, begging you to love him back. i mean, what can yoshiki really do in that situation? NOT be tragic and gay? lol. an utterly enthralling story. 10/10
