It's actually more common for female rapists to be ignored or white washed. Prime example a female teacher abuses a male Student and the reaction is: " oh he got lucky" So no, you're actually quite wrong on this issue

While there are certainly double standards for characters (that are based on real life reflections), rapist is not one of them. I have yet to encounter anyone who loves a male assaulter and hates a female one or vice versa. And no one should be loving rapists anyways.. like that’s just.. sick

It's just as simple as "I love the empress, so much" meaning I love how well written her character is and how her actions has meaning behind it. Yes, but it's very light. I mean he has a goal, that goal shows who he is, while trying to atain that goak he met a girl, which he likes and he tells her that ate some point but he knows they just met, so he doesn't force his feelings on her, but all this is very rarelly shown, the main focus of the story keeps being his goal, although I do think this love he has for her might change the MC's personality a bit, he's very through and kills people very easilly, but he might become less impulsive so that he can stand by her, that's my opinion, hope I didn't give you too much spoiler. She's a martial artist too, so even with romance
