Lmao if it was just a possessive top, one example is the ML from Love Jinx. Lack of depth, just possessive. That’s why I dislike it when people label any character here as green flag, black flag, or red flag, yellow, etc.

Random ass nobodies with no legitimate reason to hold a grudge coming in and starting trouble, rapists repeatedly attacking their victims until they apparently "want" it, people keeping dumb ass irrelevant secrets from their partner to not "burden" them which ends up causing more problems and ruining relationships that were actually good... Like i get it, conflicts that need resolving helps push the narrative forward or whatever, but the stuff happening in some of these titles right now is just utter bullshit
Welp they're common tropes in trashy bl and josei so we have to dig deeper for the good ones unfortunately. The majority of the ones that use those tropes are shallowly written with no complexity so I tend to dnf them since the chances of it being a quality read are abysmal.
I think once I stumbled upon good ones like Love Sick Dog and Our Sunny Days, I just can't gloss over and ignore trashy tropes for the sake of the read anymore. If you got any good recs please lmk
