You have a range of different habitats from Arctic settlements to extreme deserts, sprawling urban centers to isolated rural communities. What sort of things appeal to you? Do you like places with a lot of history? Or quiet natural settings? Do you want sleepy communities? Or big bustling cosmopolitan areas? Do you like to surf? Or climb mountains? Or shop? Portland, Maine is a very pretty city on the Atlantic seaboard with lovely historical buildings and a great harbour for sailing. Seattle, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest is also gorgeous and very close to the Olympic Peninsula. Hawaii has terrific scenery, a great climate and some wonderful urban areas. New Orleans is also terrific, although I don't know about what the infrastructure is like since Katrina, if they've figured out the levee problem. The Florida Keys are gorgeous. So's Sedona, Arizona and the Oak Canyon country. It's desert, but very pretty. I like some of the larger urban centres, too, like Boston, Brooklyn, San Francisco, but the cost of living is much higher there.
Depends on your preferences! California is sunshine throughout almost the entire year and besides the nice climate, it's great here!
