Top doesn’t love people—he has childhood mommy trauma—but he loves being needed and appreciated and being there for his partner so he does whatever they like and doesn’t have opinions of his own because his entire existence is kinda there to be there for other people and be the perfect guy for them?
So with all his exes they sort of figured out that though he does whatever they want and pleases them, he doesn’t love them. If they ask him, he’s always honest. The dude will say no and he’s expecting them to give up on him and move on because he also has this subconscious idea that once they break up with him they’re happier and get what they deserve.
Bottom figured him out and wants love too and follows the same path all the tops other exes do. Typically, the top doesn’t reciprocate his feelings of love and expects the bottom to breakup with him which they kind of do temporarily.
