We know Riftan is going to be hurt and show it as rage, probably, and I do wish they could have discussed it so he wasn't shut out. But in spite of the era and culture, he should know (again, I guess) how it feels to have your spouse make decisions without you. I'm just worried now that she's showing signs of pregnancy and he won't be with her through it.

I love how Maxi has the confidence to get angry now. When she confronts Riftan, she's not afraid of his temper or that he won't like her anymore for standing her ground. And now she's going from intimidated to outraged at her father's lies. I hope Riftan can see how much she needs to tell the king EXACTLY what her father has done. I thought maybe her sister would testify too. Ah, and how funny is that her father has a stutter.

I would ask the King to negotiate a settlement where the duke acknowledges his guilt and pays or gives up his position. And then smite the duke on accident. I do want to hear Agnes's real opinion.
The changes she's noticing in Anatol is a reminder that she hadn't even been there a year yet. I'm hoping her father is too embarrassed to retaliate but he doesn't seem to know he humiliated himself by getting caught beating his own injured child who is known as a war hero by the princess and her father.
