Is it odd to find it weird that jeremy likes shuri? I've seen a lot of people ship them and i understand their point that shuri was forced to take the role of stepmother and their age gap was very less. Jeremy never saw her as a mother but as a friend. However it still makes me a bit uncomfortable as they still grew up as a family and his siblings also look up to shuri as a parental figure. I'm glad the author handled the whole court situation well. It was so disturbing to watch poor shuri.
âGrew Upâ when itâs only been a couple of years and they met when Jeremy and shuri are both grown itâs sometimes hard to miss but their dynamic is NOT one of mother and son, and they are more equals than anything. Thatâs why the court case even happened, because when it came to the dynamics of the family, they held more of a âfatherâ and âmotherâ role than anything, especially to their siblings. As the eldest son and the widowed wife they both had to mature faster than any of their sibling as to look after the household. Its a weird situation, but Jeremy cannot be compared to or referenced aside his siblings because they are not in the same situation.

I know they were basically the same age and jeremy never saw her as a mother and felt bad that she had to be in this position due to their father giving up her childhood to raise them. He's so devoted to shuri and cares about her but I just wished it would be better if jeremy had platonic feelings for shuri. Not every guy needs to fall in love with her.
I understand ur point about every guy falling for the mc trope. Itâs annoying and it just gives harem. But for the context of specifically this manwha, it just emphasises the themes of this story about love, obsession, and control. The sons of the most powerful men in the empire falling for shuri is meant to be a parallel to Ludovika. Itâs meant to show that aside from just looks even though Ludovika and Shuri are so different, by simply being women their lives are forever intertwined and affected by men trying to control them. Jeremy falling for shuri is meant to be a contrast to his father Johannes as he is choosing her over his own selfish desires. Johannes stole Shuriâs future bc of his selfish love and cowardice for Ludovika. Jeremy choosing to stay private to protect Shuriâs future happiness is meant to show his selflessness and bravery. Jeremy was never meant to be an endgame âlove interestâ, his love for her is essential for the narrative. Itâs to showcase how evil Johannes and every other man and their selfish âloveâ is. Nora is the endgame love interest but both him and Jeremy are there to showcase that to truly love someone is to be selfless.
