I agree it's cruel but quite natural even for other animals and species. Animals aren't humans though so naturally most aren't going to value them the same. You honestly shouldn't, but if you do that's up to you. As long as animals aren't being tortured I think it's natural to eat them. However it is a really good analogy to meat eating in general, but the main issue is the torturous conditions of the meat industry. Which isn't being displayed here hence his otherwise peaceful upbringing.
