I kno it's still early with the chapter but i just want to share this as a gag or personal question of mine. Why manhwa mostly potray japanese/chinese character as a bad guy. The only manhwa that have a Japanese/Chinese character as a surprisingly good and well-build character is Superhuman era.
Thank you for your unrelated opinion you just recommended me a book I haven't seen or read before I think most artists go with the narrative that Japan and China have modern slavery involving debt bondage, and human trafficking to name few so they go with that when they write.just like how they portray black people as barbaric or animals.so what ever we see on tv or social media it shapes how people interpret other people.
In korea theres a long history of war against japan and china. Japan especially was ruthless during their invasion and commited MANY horrific war crimes that they refuse to acknowledge or apologise for to this day, so most koreans tend to have a rougher view on them

Wow that makes a whole lot of sense.i didn't know they went to war with each other,i just thought they hated each other's guts like how other ethnic groups hate each other. Would they ever forgive each other though?

Yeah, i actually used to see it with that perspective tbh but now i turns to be just one of those overused trope with korean media. I'm from a country with a pretty deep history about japanese slavery from 1942 to 1945 so making Japanese character as the bad guy out of a spite is an understandable thing tbh. I just think it gets to the point where Barbarian always potrayed with tan people (similiar to Southeast Asian People) or straight up black people to potray an underdeveloped country. Like, sure, you have a beef with this country but korean in general does have not so good history with racism too. It can feels abit hypocritical at times. Maybe, i just read too many manhwa and started to notice these things that starting to becoming my ick.

Also, please read superhuman era or era of overman. They have a real diversity and character depth to the point i know every character by their names (usually not the case with manhwa somehow).

Thank you for the recommendation,on your initial comment you mentioned it and took a look at it and damn it is awesome.
It's kind of ironic, considering their history cause now, the fact that some, if not the majority of south koreans are xenophobic / very discriminatory to foreigners. Speaking with experience (been there twice, second time was my last straw, just thought it was some lol)
But otherwise, true! i've noticed that pattern in a lot of manwhas its crazy lol. straight up racism
Like seriously lmao, at this point he had the most diverse harem in this entire genre of manhwa. Not even mad about it, cuz it seems like anyone (accross all species) will simp over captain encrid lmao.
