What bothers me the most about him is that he didn't even seem to properly mourn his unborn child or fully grasp that his own cruelty and unjust treatment of her had led to her miscarriage.
And honestly, I don't think blinding someone should automatically warrant a death sentence, especially when that person was coerced into doing it and was herself a victim of his brother's manipulation. His brother was the mastermind behind the whole scheme, and he was already going after him anyway. So why was he still so determined to have this woman executed, even after discovering the circumstances she had been forced into?
She was already traumatized, imprisoned, abused, and suffering from a miscarriage. What more did he want from her? He could have held her accountable without subjecting her to such horrific cruelty, especially when his own brother was the one who orchestrated everything. His anger might have been understandable at first, but the way he treated her went far beyond justified anger. It wasn't justice; it was cruelty inflicted on someone who was already a victim.
And even now, it feels like all he cares about is getting her treatment, making her recover, and having her back as his wife or mistress, despite everything she has endured. But what about everything he put her through? What about the fact that his own cruelty contributed to her miscarriage? He hasn't even properly apologized for the loss of their child, let alone shown any real grief over it. We haven't seen him cry for their baby, not even in private, let alone in front of her. Does he even realize that he lost a child, too?
He still doesn't seem to comprehend the extent of her suffering or understand that, by the time she faced execution, she had practically surrendered to death and come to see it as a mercy. He doesn't seem to grasp why she has lost the will to live after everything she has been through. And that is what frustrates me the most: he wants her to recover and return to him, but does he truly understand what he is asking her to recover from? Does he understand how deeply he broke her?
And seriously, when are we going to see him actually grieve for the child she was carrying, the child he lost because of his own cruelty? I want to see him confront that loss, not just focus on getting the woman he loves back. He was responsible for so much of her suffering, yet the story seems far more concerned with his desire to have her back than with the emotional consequences of what he did to her. His regret over how he treated her is one thing, but acknowledging that he helped destroy his own family is another. And I need to see him truly face that.

1. Ezekiel wasn't "just blinded," it was a failed assassination attempt that led to him becoming blind. He didn't "just" suffer blindness, Ezekiel also suffered extreme pain from bright lights, paranoia, PTSD flashbacks, moods swings and extreme addiction. Let's not erase what he suffered just like how we don't want to gloss over what Lizen has suffered.
2. Lizan was the scapegoat of Ezekiel's trauma. Was this the right thing for Ezekiel to do? No absolutely not. But let's think of this from his warped perspective. ~~
~~ your brother who wants you dead sent one of his mistresses to kill you. She failed to kill you but left you horribly disfigured and ran away. After ages of living in a state of pain and terror you have the opportunity to take revenge on the people who harmed you. Your brother gets away but you catch his accomplice who attempts suicide in order to avoid punishment. You don't let her get out of justice so easily. You do it by the books, sending her to prison and leaving her there to rot while the justice system of the country rules her guilty and puts her on death row. Due to her taking poison and you punching her in the gut to expell poison (and then her later getting kicked down by fellow convicts) she has a miscarriage, but she's set to die anyways, the father of the child is probably your evil brother, and she's a wicked person so who cares~~
~~ By this narrative, Ezekiel's actions seem extremely justified, does is mean he's right in the end? No. But you gotta understand this is the narrative EVERYONE believed up until Ezekiel found out Lizen was also Rose. You can't blame him for thinking that way in the start, especially since Lizen did everything she could to stop him from finding out the truth. That poor girl felt so guilty she was literally TRYING to make herself miserable over it.
3. As far as the miscarriage goes, it's a freak accident. Nobody, not even Lizen, knew that she was pregnant. The fact Ezekiel hasn't mourned it is interesting tho. I wonder if/when that will get confronted in the story. I don't know if this manhwa is progressive enough to debate whether the fetus was actually a baby or not but we'll see.
well since lizan is already in such a fragile mental state already, there’s no way he could address those things with her… as for everything that happened, he obviously cares for lizan first. so his main priority would be getting her healthy again. that’s why i imagine that he hasn’t personally addressed anything like the miscarriage. i mean you can see him reflect on his actions, saying “if only i wasn’t rough like that” when lizan was in jail.
but also, i imagine some of the issues you mentioned are better developed and portrayed in the novel. so it probably is just an issue of manhwa adaption. cause it does seem pretty superficial at this point. i just think that once she is able to understand herself better like the blind doctor said, that will open up the conversation between her and ezekiel over everything between them.
I always wondered why she looked like a 3-year-old when she's actually 10. Finally, Khalid explained that she was in a constant state of using magic that affected her growth. I just wonder if her family realizes that she is way smaller for her age.
They do realize. In early chapters when she first introduced to family, all of them (including the servants) think she's too tiny. That's why they give her so much cake, they're just silly. My poor baby Ruby suffered so much...
Yeah, I remember them thinking she was 6, not 8... but literally, she looks like a 3-year-old. But I wanted more of a reaction from them about why an 8-year-old is the same size as a 3-year-old. I wanted them to focus on that instead of giving her cake.
Maybe she looks even more tiny because the Northerner all buff and tall. She looks around 5-6 to me
