bruh NOTHING happens for the first 20 chapters. I know this is supposed to give a nostalgic melancholy of memories of a deceased loved one but come tf onnnn, do you need a close up panel of each character's face whenever they converse?? The world building is kinda ass too (the king was cursed because he didn't wed the goddess?? tf??). Like I get the sapphic vibe but it's just gaybait tbh
so we're up to chapter 3 and kinda know what's going on in their lives now. I get that she was burnt out and depressed and the husband suggested marriage at the time to alleviate her financial burdens, but all the communication about boundaries and expectations up to that point were just... chores?? And even after the marriage her finance doesn't stress her out as badly anymore she doesn't just restart her career, wasting her college degree that she got in debt for, and now therefore is dependent on her husband to provide. And she's spiraling again overthinking and reevaluating her self-worth after he expresses that he wants children, girl get a grip. These doormat characters are personally so hard to read and tolerate.
I get that. But depression manifests differently in everyone and no one goes at the same pace. Offering grace to someone who may not be where you are, is okay. Also, it’s only been three chapters, who knows how much we don’t know. I agree that helpless protagonists are frustrating because you just want them to get on with it but maybe she will after she walks out of that laundromat. Or at least I hope she will.
how takamura got twitter??? ippo debuted in like late 80s early 90s and even if its been 10-12 years it'd be the mid 2000s at least, at least have him use a flip phone and use myspace or yahoo blog or sumn smh
twitter was created in 2006
yea but it didn't look like in the manga in 2006. and def was not popular enough for some fogeys and takamura to be posting gag dick pics for clout like that. they were using smart phones too, most japanese people were still using flip phones up until like 10 years ago.
does it matter?
just inconsistency in storytelling.
if you check all the match posters you can see the time progressing as the date is lik 200X instead of 199X , etc
yea ik, but the phones and social media platforms portrayed in recent chapters suggest it should be at least early 2010s (imo even 2013-14 with the live tweeting and stuff, but nudity wasn't even that big of a deal until recent years), a good decade later than the timeline. It's def nbd, but does break immersion.
I guess it's just one of the details you kinda forget about after spending 35 years on an ongoing project lol, in a year this series is gonna reach 1500 chapters
