The blonde(Mc) and black haired(ml) pair are both descendants of a dragon, and since they both have dragon blood in them they are very strong and I guess are seen more superior hence people started calling them "Dreek". Now the myth/legend is that the Dragon fell in love with a princess and now have some descendants from them so those descendants have royal blood in them.
Blonde dude thought that was cool, having a dragon and royal blood in him which makes him quite unique and strong and different from others making him proud of his ancestors, (bcuz he was an orphan who wouldn't be, right).
So he went and tried to meet the dragon who was supposed to be his ancestor. But, lo and behold the legendary love story myth about a princess and the dragon was all a lie, plot twist, it turns out the dragon was subdued by a powerful princess mage, and bcuz he also loves her(which led to his downfall), so the princess raped the dragon, and every time it was the time of his rut(which explains why the black hair guy gets rut and the other descendants ->who raped the blonde guy in exchange of the mirror so the blonde dude can get to talked to someone at one time, which he chose the dragon), the prince would have other noble ladies raped the dragon, creating further more descendants, Dreek people. Now a rumor spread (as the dragon told the blonde) that if you eat a flesh of the dragon you'll gain eternal life- which you don't, and so many people gather and killed the dragon and ate his flesh and used what remains and made some stuff out of it, ie. The necklace that was given to the blonde guy and the sword etc.
Now it looks like the black haired guy is in heavy denial/brainwashed by his fam. And the blonde dude was very devastated that everything he believed in was all a lie and now I think he's trying to set on writing some of the wrongs by getting rid of all of the objects made from the remains of the dragon, as one for the comments have commented.
