i can re read this at least twice a month and never get bored. i'm really in love with this manhwa and i wish there were more side stories about the lovely life of taemin and siwon. it'd have been so good ;;;;; there are many manhwa that have too many chapters and here we have a manhwa that we deserve more chapters and we don't get what we deserve ┗( T﹏T )┛

so i was watching some youtube vids and i remember coming across about some vids about "why we should stop yaoi manga" or "how yaoi manga" isn't good and all.
personally, i love yaoi and yuri manga, tbh i'm biased and i know it, like before finding it, i didn't even know that two guys could kiss!!! istg i learned a lot lmao so i see yaoi in a positive light.
but i feel like now a lot of ppl are having a huge problem with the yaoi content itself, like it's problematic and stuff. i can understand that point of view, sometimes we have some problematic tropes and the most twisted stuff. a lot of fetishization when it comes to gay couples too, I also can see how the words "uke" and "seme" can be problematic, but somehow it doesn't sit right with me. like yaoi in itself, is a fetishized genre of manga about 2 handsome guys kissing and stuff, it originated in japan and it was invented for "females" (back then, of course, i'm glad to see that everyone can enjoy a good piece of yaoi nowadays tho ^^).
so my problem is, you are a manga genre, it's fiction, it's a fetish, but it's not like (most sane) yaoi readers won't look at gay couples and think who is the top or the bottom, or what they do in bed. We don't fetishize real ppl, we fetishized characters, things that don't exist. i'm not saying i support all yaoi fetishes, there are some i'm totally okay without reading about, but then again, it's only my preferences or am i having double-standards?
anyways, the question that is in my mind most of the time is i know we have our fucked things, but why is everyone just attacking yaoi? like, there is also worse fucked up hentai out there, so why is yaoi the most criticized one? i don't understand.
i'm sorry for my bad english, i just wanted to talk about this and know what other weebs think about this subject. please be kind to me and educate me without attacking me, i'm just curious and confused.
i agree with you, but i think fetishizing fictional characters is still bad. as long as you don't fetishize real life people as well as fictional people then you're fine, it means that people who say "stop fetishizing" is not talking about you!
and considering if you also read other genres that is not just yaoi, then that's cool! because some people say stuff like "i don't read yuri, yaoi is more hot" then that is fetishism.
i think the root of this problem is how people tend to ship straight men together because of their fetish, resulting to these men becoming uncomfy with each other, leading to their friendship never being the same anymore. so people get disappointed, and wants to people to stop
Yaoi is getting more anime adaptations recently so the genre gets more attention. Also others are just very homophobic and hate and criticize the entire genre just based on that, even though there are many fucked up straight hentai on the internet. Hentai has been around for a while and its basically porn and is generally accepted or tolerated by the majority, and guys so love it.
With yaoi gaining so much attention and anime adaptations, hate will continue to follow it because 1.its about gay characters 2. the special snowflakes like homophobic anime watching boys will never stop spreading what they think about it, 3. there are many who cant keep what they see in fiction and in real life apart, like people who see gay couples irl and act like weirdos "who's the top, bottom,etc"

If its a real couple irl, its more rude and disrespectful than anything. But as long as you aren't in their face and asking them "which ones the top and bottom?" Then you're fine
