It was a bold move for the author to completely brush aside an orgininal character in the story to focus on another plot though I can see why she did it. Nearly 20 chapters were spent trying to develop his relationship with the main character but as soon as she introduced two newer characters, she decided to explore their stories instead of continue with the original plot, but in order to do this she had to make sure that he wouldn’t get involved and ruin her newly established plot. It’s not wrong to still ship the original and inferred couple, but considering the amount of character development and time spent on the backstories of these newer characters, I think it would be better to explore their personalities more to give this book a better story to run on.
