Are Painter of the Night and Pearl Boy worth reading? I know they’re two of the big famous BLs but I heard there’s a lot of rape and SA in them. Are the endings satisfying? Is there enough groveling? They both have 100+ chapters so I don’t want to start if they’re not going to be good despite the hype and fame (I spent time reading Love is an Illusion bc it was famous and thought it was meh at best)
The author/mangaka must have done a buttload of research because this story exemplifies everything wrong with America in the 90s. It’s so heartbreaking but what makes it hurt even more is that it’s realistic. They had to find each other in a time where society wanted nothing more than to separate them

I know this is a story published in 2016, but man I am so pissed that original Siwon never got justice for what he went through. With the way some of the characters were, I was fully expecting some corpses or at least hospitalizations, but nothing happened to the perpetrators. Were BL readers standards that low that this has a 9.4 rating? I give this story an 8 at best
Is it worth the time to read this? There are a lot of chapters… the art is very beautiful, but I heard the plot is kinda shit (weak, victim bottom, abuser, rapist too) But the ratings are so high??
The current chapter in Heejae’s pov corresponds with chapters 20-21 in Seyoung’s pov. It’s fun to reread and know now what Heejae was thinking and realizing during that scene

First time reader and I’m kind of impressed that a BL manhwa in 2019 showed a bottom refusing a top and the top getting the message to not push. Of course, most of it is due to Felix being a literal buff, stronk af bodyguard but it was still surprising to see. The artist really put their whole bussy into drawing the sex scenes; they’re so much nicer to look at than the regular scenes You can really tell that Felix does enjoy getting fucked despite his conflicting feelings
