Tbh people are confused on why did Kim Dan even stay with Jaekyung and love him as long as he did but re-reading the final chapter, I finally figured out why. Kim Dan was so depressed, delusional, and lonely because he realized he may not have anyone once his grandmother died. Jaekyung was ultimately the closest person who showed him “affection” (just sex and rpe) and gave him a job opportunity when no one else would. Kim Dan clinged on this so much to the point he deluded himself to actually love Jaekyung and stay with him through all the abuse. In some way his grandmother dying was the main driver of this story.
It’s kinda of the same for Jaekyung, in a more twisted way. Once he became an adult, no one wanted to show him any affection because of his bad attitude and abusive tendencies. He summed it up to no one really loving/caring about him since he was a kid due to his abusive dad, even when he was shown some love from the boxing coach. He fell for Kim Dan so hard because he’s the only one who stayed and was submissive to all the abuse he dished out.
The last chapter was meant to symbolize that Kim Dan can now never be lonely again because he is with someone who loves him as much as his grandmother. In reality, both of them are just clinging onto a really toxic relationship.
Either way, I think this could’ve been a really cute story but it just fell really flat :/ I can’t even feel satisfied with them being lovey dovey in the latest chapter. Hopefully we get an AU and can enjoy their dynamic a little more ┗( T﹏T )┛
