Mingwa has a way of character redemption that also happens in the real world, it's morally grey yes. But she portrays them as real people who are capable of realization. I find it so weird that haters say that what he did to Dan wasn't nearly as bad as what happened to him as a child. And if that doesn't scream abuse enabler I'm not sure what does. They both didn't deserve that treatment, but at the same time it was pushing the smut plot forward. This was a well written character arc.
