I know a lot of people are unhappy with the end, but I think they're missing the moral: you can't save everyone. You can't change anyone. You yourself have to decide to change. No one can fix your issues for you. Some people are so angry they can't change. Even if you have everything, you can only be truly happy when you let go of that hatred and anger.

Oh my God. When I watched Banana Fish I was actually broken for a few days. That story fucked me up, but it was so good! I love it, but I think I probably should have waited for like another five years before emotionally scarring myself like that. I'm 18, but damn it's a lot to take in. TT–TT
