This is an extremely long analysis. Don’t read if you’re not willing to look at the story through J’s perspective.
The only reason J needs Su-Ah is because Su-Ah has been scenting him their entire lives to protect and/or claim him. By doing so, he not only made J addicted and dependent on his Alpha pheromones, but TURNED HIM INTO AN OMEGA (heavily implied). This is the most humiliating thing for J, who used to be Su-Ah’s protector, and even called Su-Ah his WIFE. Their roles and lives have reversed in every single way. Now, in adulthood he’s continually belittled and teased for his Omega status by his peers (Kibeom & other teammates). What’s more, Su-Ah, the old man with glasses, and 3 random Alphas in the alleyway have all assaulted/attempted to assault him while he was left vulnerable in heat.
J’s auntie said that his grandparents didn’t want to attend his Omega coming out party, likely because they resent him for being the first Omega in their bloodline. J wants to prove that he is strong and independent. He hates himself for being an Omega. He hates himself for being so reliant on Alphas, specifically Su-Ah, and takes his frustrations out on him. He even refers to his own body as a “godforsaken” one, because he feels so weak and helpless when in the face of pheromones. Why else do you think he trains so damn hard? To build up at least some form of strength that shows off his resilience and hard work! We can also deduce that the mysterious reason J failed his qualifying rounds for Judo the previous year was due to his heat making him incapacitated, which is why he’s so desperate for Su-Ah’s help this year. Can you imagine being J? All your hard work amounting to nothing if you don’t have an Alpha by your side? FAILING, if you don’t have an Alpha by your side? He NEEDS Su-Ah, and he hates that he does. The pair are in an endless game of Tug-Of-War, and they’re both losing.
And I haven’t even mentioned J still very obviously having a crush on Su-Ah. Like come on. Seriously. Asking him to smear his spunk on you?????? For MONTHS????? LETTING HIM SPOON FEED YOU????? BLUSHING???? And this was all before the Japan situation was brought up! “It’s convenient” my ass. There are so many ways to go about this situation, and J chose the most convoluted one. But his feelings are in conflict with his self loathing, and it’s only something that can be fixed if he and Su-Ah sit down and work things out together. So I hate when people say that Su-Ah needs to distance himself or make J jealous…it’ll only make J’s insecurities worse! Truly, J is such a fascinating, unique, and subversive Omega, and I will defend him with my life. My only issue with him was in this most recent update, where he led Su-Ah on that date, but I can’t even blame him for that. This is a fucked up situation. Plus, Su-Ah knew the conditions of their agreement, and yet he still agreed to be J’s sperm bank. I understand Su-Ah didn’t mean to turn J into an Omega. He was only a child. And I understand that Su-Ah is completely, utterly in love with J. His entire world revolves around him, and he even followed J to University. And I know it sucks to see him get rejected time and time again. But the fact remains that Su-Ah has made his life exceedingly difficult by continuing to use his Alpha pheromones as leverage against J. It’s unfair to place all the blame on J for putting a stint in their romance, when Su-Ah has caused his own fair share of trouble as well.
