after ive read it again ive come to a conclusion, the author is a lazy freak that notices that people are more into bl then straight and he wanted to end the manga so we got that ending. and another note, is there not other people outside taichi’s highschool like we can get a happy ending by all of them having a talk when they all meet up for highschool reunion cuz since the manga is discussion heavy already why not let the ending be a discussion not some “okay here you go taichi and touma got together after 5 years, yup taichi didnt find another one and touma probably grommed taichi to like him cuz how did taichi become gay when he didnt express any feelings for touma then?

I definitely feel like the ending was rushed and odd, but i see how they ended up together. Looking back at how Taichi reacted when he was first helping Futaba. I saw it as, him not sure how to feel about Touma, whether he was jealous that Futaba liked someone else or that someone like Touma. Taichi also wasn't sure why he disliked and avoided Touma. After Touma confessed, I think Taichi may have understood more why he felt that way, he was jealous that Touma was popular, but also that Tamou was being taken away by other people. When it came to him having to choose between Touma and Futaba, he obviously thought very hard about it, he even had a dream where he was unsure of who to choose. (In my pov I saw it more as a romantic choice and not just a friendship choice if that makes sense) Taichi obviously had more feelings about Touma than just friendship. I don't think he was "groomed" (I also don't think that's the right word for what you are trying to express) Taichi very obviously cared for Touma a lot. I don't think Touma would force Taichi into a relationship, he was willing to forget and leave like nothing happened, why would he randomly force Taichi?

I really hate that all that build up just for nothing, i know its for self reflection and other perspective but the ending? how did mc get together with Touma? i knew something wasn’t right when theyre debating and futaba wasnt shown as much like i thought they were just going to be friends but they suddenly got together? its not that im against gay relationship its just how did they? because being gay (or bi) isnt just something you just do specialty when you leave your girl for your bro? and its like 2 years, so that mean either touma still loves mc or they catched up and mc realizes his feelings.
Either way i think the ending sucks. theres no explanation when the whole plot for this manga is self acceptance but we didnt even get to see how they get married? and like futaba loved both of them. like really loved then they just broke up for what? i really dont understand.
Though based on a few words on the ending i think mc thought hes gay, on the other hand how did he loved futaba like i know he loved futaba very much but then that? its just blank its like making a good food just to throw it in the trash, good build up bad ending.
I really agree with you. This manga is actually so good so I was really disappointed by the ending. If, at least, the author showed how they came to become a couple and how mc came to become attracted to a man years later, I would have accepted it right away. But it’s like you write something unconventional to make people actually think, and then you decide to end it on the most cliche ending note you can think of. What’s up with that.

We can only assume that after Taichi and Futaba broke up, he and Touma reconnected and something clicked between them again. Although I’d like to argue that Taichi have always harbored feelings for Touma during high school and even before. These feelings might have been repressed due to the societal expectations and he didn't really know what to make of them at the time. Then, when Taichi and Touma reconnected during the time skip, they were able to explore their relationship freely without all the high school drama and confusion and fell in love once again. I get the frustration of some readers over the lack of detailed events during the time skip, but it leaves room for interpretation, allowing us to imagine the growth and changes the characters underwent. Just how the author intended. So, yeah, the ending might feel sudden, but it shows how feelings can change and grow over time. Taichi ending up with Touma signifies the importance of self-discovery. It also underscores that life can take unexpected turns, and sometimes, the relationships that last are the ones that face trials and transformations beyond the high school years.
For what ive read i didnt see taichi have feelings for touma, its like yeah its sudden like life is sudden but theres a reason why its a manga and we are called the readers, we want a story that is set out straight not to use our imagination, i feel like there should be atleast 1 chapter to explain how taichi and touma get together. i just think that its another reason why this site’s front page are bl so that it resonates with the readers not for the story. i dont hate bl its just how did they get together, we are not here to speculate we are here to read and be one of the characters, if it ended like that then it feels like its justed dropped and author hit us with “tl;dr for the bl fans taichi and touma get together for unknown reasons” but who i am to say its the authors characters and the authors story so i dont get to say, but ill hate until i find how they got together and it better be interesting for how many people recommended this to me.

To be fair, this isn’t really a BL. It’s a shounen and was published under a shounen magazine. The author intended to throw a curveball with this ending fully knowing that it would not please everyone and he would definitely receive mixed reactions, so he was able to achieve that I guess. There are some who liked how it ended but also some who got mad over it, it is kind of expected for this type of ending, which isn’t something new. Personally, I liked it because I’m someone who appreciates endings that are open for interpretation and stories that would have you micro-analyzing the characters. But I also understand why people may not like it. Readers have varying opinions. To each their own.
