Fun fact the og translator was talking about their health here in the comments a while back and they clearly said to not upload without asking them politely...where is the anger you're talking about? I mean at least check the og translator and ask if they dropped it or if there's something wrong before taking over

The translator should have uploaded a notice then. It’s been almost a month and there has been no new translated chapters added. Most people also don’t really read through miles of comments to see the OG translator’s comment.

That being said, the new uploaders probably should have tried to reach out first to see if the translation has been dropped before uploading.

The new uploader didn't even translate it themselves, it's an MTL.

Eh I get it it’s a common courtesy. Tbf even with a memo people would have still uploaded over the OG tl because this is a highly popular series. Just look at Yang Ilwoo and I, for example. Was the same situation except OG tl added a memo to their chapters. People still upload over them.

Common courtesy is quite a tricky subject bc yeah, that is indeed a thing when og tl has claimed a specific comic and notifies when they are taking a break, but besides that, u cannot know if smth might have happened to them that makes them unable to continue. Going through rows and rows of comments hoping for an explanation is asking too much of someone, so not expecting anyone else to pick it up when theres no notice is a bit naive. They dont upload a notice of a break but they do upload it to notify everyone of their anger. Valid, but also, a bit silly to involve everyone else in a drama others may not want to be part of.

Fair enough, I am also of the same opinion. I was just bringing up another similar case in an attempt to be objective.

Either way, the officials are very quickly catching up with fan translations so this whole situation is kind of a nothingburger in retrospect

That's not true, if you really enjoy MTLs, then please go ahead and enjoy this... stuff... then why even bother as a translator to actually take their free time and do all this by hand in a typesetting that's actually enjoyable, when people on this pirated website complain that free uploads aren't fast enough?

If you actually read my comment with your eyes, you’d notice I didn’t say I prefer Google translated chapters. Obviously, readers prefer quality translated chapters from OG TL. And if I could read Korean, I’d just buy chapters from original platforms instead.

That’s the question you can ask the translator but generally it comes down to fans wanting to share content with other fans. Just because it’s quality content doesn’t make it more justifiable or ethical when the content is being pirated in the first place and the creators of the content are not being compensated for it. So no, it’s not about ethics.

The OG TL has been doing a great job with their translations and I can somewhat sympathize with their frustration but at the same time you cannot monopolize translating a popular series then disappear for nearly a month.
