I have a feeling that eve knows everything but keeps pretending not to. Cause in the earlier chps it said that eve could hear thoughts/read minds. That may be the reason he's refusing guiding because he knows it'll put Adam in danger/pain. Also Chaz could have been nicer why'd he do my baby like that

I think the big brother is the alpha/leader of the forest. He's hiding his findings abt the forest and the animal people(?) from the arkinans. He was the one who provided the school with all that equipment and also betrayed the teacher of the school. He doesn't want his brother to find out about anything cause he might threaten his position or smth
It could also be the reason he's so desperate to find his brother cause he was born and not engineered so he might have some advantages or is a good specimen for his research. But it could as well be the trope "I made him hate me to protect him" kinda thing
Or he could be into incest for all we know
