I was deeply hooked by this manhwa so I went and read the novel after this (bought the chapters off Amazon, you can prob get them elsewhere but this review was based on the translation there) because I had to see how the story goes. I really recommend checking it out as the plot develops in a super interesting way beyond the main couple and Maxi gets plenty of opportunity to work on pursuing her own goals and agency; I like it more than the manhwa even, though the visuals are what I keep in mind when reading. As a bonus, the spicy scenes are spicier, 2. there is a Riftan-POV series of chapters that gives more context for his fixation on Maxi. I think the translation is well done and pretty readable. I hope the drawn version catches up to those scenes, but a LOT happens.
Oh my God I did the exact same thing, and I was hooked beyond words I just binged like a madman forgoing sleep. There are times when I was frustrated with Riftan’s overprotectiveness, but I love how much Maxi has grown and can stand her own ground now. Couldn’t be more proud of her!

I’ve had other series where I read the novel after starting the webtoon and just ended up dropping it because either of clunky translation or because it didn’t have the quality that I liked in the drawn version, under the oak tree is the first one that gripped me by the throat. i am incredibly proud of maxi’s growth absjdkfkf i feel like a parent even if had nothing to do with raising her

Hearing you said some novels couldn’t live up to the drawn version must have been so disappointing. Honestly another reason why I absolutely love under the oak tree’s webtoon is because it’s one of the most beautifully drawn webtoon imo out of the many I’ve read, plus amazing translation, and I’m so glad the novel isn’t shitty! And yussss I kept screaming “you go baby girl!” at Maxi whenever she’s standing her ground. We are definitely her parents from another grandparents (づ￣ ³￣)づ I sometimes dislike how instead of communicating when they’re having a fight, Riftan solves the problems by making out, but that’s also how we got some sexy scenes so I can’t complain too much I guess ╮(￣▽￣)╭
