It's not real. Something about the ghost ship. Sherbet is a fake to fuck with Granita. Anne's line about "this sea" like it has unique agency doesn't sit right.
Either that or Sherbet has temporary brain damage. Season 2 has definitely kept up the mystery and hijinks well but it does seem to have intentionally lowered the stakes a bit. The main, driving plot *did* end, to be fair.
