This has a novel, this manga adaption was only showing part of what the novel includes. There's a lot more trials and turbulations, as well as more children between the three of them. There's a lot more detail that they omitted, whether it be their travels or how things played out! This is definitely a sped up version, especially the last few chapters were very sped up.
