A list of my favorite more mature, dark and dirty KakashixIruka stories that I enjoyed since I was young enough to remember these being hosted on places like AngelFire and LiveJournal.
Personally, this is one of my favorite classic. Yaoi was started in Japan as a way for women to explore traumatizing and taboo topics within the safety of their own circle and without all the hangups of having to experience them as female characters. For this reason, I absolutely dark things like this that explore the nature of 'real' shinobi work. It was dirty. It's full of lies and betrayals. And of course, it's a world where people absolutely want to destroy other people's happiness.
The only reason I'd only giveit 4/5 stars though, is that I've read darker works yet where Kakashi goes absolutely nuts on anyone that touches Iruka. Those are perfect to me. An eye for an eye and perhaps the one you lose will be replaced by sharingan as a dying wish and all that, you know? If you're a mature reader and not a baby about the kind of world Naruto is actually based on (not but 85 years ago, they had children dying on a regular in wars, afterall), read this. It's the actual world that adult shinobi like Kakashi and Iruka have to live in and it's a wonderfully eye-opening experience. It really makes me appreciate Naruto's changing of the way the shinobi world worked from his little story to something much larger, that much more.

This is one of my comfort-classics. It's short and sweet and full of things my generation will be familiar with feeling when we were spending our days in the grass and the sun. Kakashi and Iruka have such a sweet and familiar dynamic here and yet they're both so adorably clumsy in their own way. It really carries the flavor of the early to mid 2000s romance.
