Speaking of Raymond, I HATE the "all children make me uncomfortable except for this one kid i met suddenly in the back alley" line. As if people dont lovingly rear children that are completely unrelated to them. Its just a shitty excuse for foreshadowing and makes Ray seem like an even shittier human.

I prefer the official versions because they have the highest consistancy (groups will pick up and drop without reading previous chapters) and often the offical translators can directly confirm with the author what the intent was.
That being said, scanalations take a LOT of work. Even poorly translated ones take hours to do. (These were not poorly translated). A scan group is usually also run on donations and benefits from the publicity of having their scans up, so putting the official over it can feel like a double slap in the face. This feels like a bizarre game of "spot the difference".
