i LOVE that the artist/writer is exploring the dark side of the selfish/obsessive top x kind/helplessly in love bottom trope. this story is literally the third ending but historical. i think both luan and clauden are realistic to their upbringing, and the only logical ending is a sad one.

the softer lighting, unsettling purple warmed by a soft yellow contrast. ilay’s blatant insecurity about xinlu, pushing him to seek romantic affection instead of just physical satisfaction, “don’t cry, i’ll be gentle”, while nuzzling taeui’s nape. and taeui!!! the begrudging acceptance!! “i guess i just wanted to. so what.” i am gripping you by the shoulders, this is insane character development. mr. killcount 9000 is having human emotions and being a loser about it.
grandpa was protecting dam from opportunists by taking credit. his shaman act was clearly effective at redirecting attention from dam, even ghosts bought it. i don’t think he stole dam’s powers, rather at some point they were sealed away. but grandpa definitely learned how to do basic spiritual stuff normies can do, that’d explain why the truck talisman worked but wasn’t strong enough to reach the truckbed. plus the statue guardians said he did many good deeds in life, but they wouldn’t be able to take him to the afterlife if his soul had harmed someone - what if after he died dam was found out and grandpa’s soul hurt them to keep them quiet?
