As a black person, i have a lot of thoughts on this already.
1. i’ve mentioned it before but the fact that Gerard was in the union makes me think that the author wants a taboo slave/master relationship without fulling have to commit to it.
2. also noticing that the slaves (excluding the ml) r just background characters r all adults with no discernible facial features and only seem to really exist to make gerard look morally righteous.
3. Also fun fact, the union originally didn’t fight to abolish slavery! they fought to keep america united! so in 1861 when Gerard joins, he was most likely was not an abolitionist. while he’s anti-slavery now i just thought that was important to mention.
4. im truly so tired of the abolitionist x slave trope. is it as bad as the slave/master? no. but does it still grind my gears when the oppressed is shipped with their oppressor.
5. ok im almost done talking but its really funny to me how niggas r focusing on the top and bottom positions of these two and i’ve only seen on person on here address the huge elephant in the room. which leads to a fear that regardless of whether this story will be historically accurate and touch on the horrors of slavery in america without sugar coating. most won’t even bat an eye because they’re uneducated, or don’t care, or only here to jerk off! most likely all of the above.

this is an interesting plot but its soo bad cause
1. lack of yuri scenes
2. the guy who leaked the uke is shown to be at his place of work and watches his streams…nothing is done with this and the seme just blocks him like its nothing
3. uke’s identity get revealed…all we see are a few mean comments and thats it! they just have sex and we good
