500,000,000 million won is only around $320,000-350,000 USD. 4 years worth is about $80,000/yearly. So like bro was NOT being paid very good for the trauma and mental health/physical health issues he received.
Its a big sum on its own but not when broken down in terms of a salary in Seoul, like they said thats 80k a year which is typical for a mid level corporate job anyway and with living expenses he wouldn't have much leftover at all, he only has that amount since he didnt spend it since he did multiple extra jobs to survive, so in terms of getting paid to be the rut partner of a chaebol its peanuts
Exactly! While it's a good sum to start your life, it's NOT a good sum at all for sleeping with a chaebol. Even if you factor in the costs that was used to treat the Aunt, It's definitely not in the millions. Bro should have leveraged for at least $1 million dollars. At least then he could put it into the fictional equivalent of the SP500 and get an average return of 10% or put it into a HYSA and get 3-5% and live off the interests. He could even travel carefree off that interests. And if I remember, bro only gets paid 10mil won or $6k-8k per time he sleeps with the Chaebol alpha. I'm crashing out bad man. $10k-15k would be the minimum starting rate man.
And anyone who thinks these are too large of a sum, just know there is a Chinese influencer who bagged millions by giving birth to a Billionaire Heir. They aren't even married (and her son is his only heir). And bro didnt even want the son at first.
So honestly, sorry for the crash out but bro should have gotten WAY MORE.
I don't get the hate people have for any of these characters tbh.
1. The Best friend (Jungwoon) has no bad intentions and is not fake. He's not interested in ML and makes it clear. ML himself knows he has 0 chances since the beginning. But their friendship is strong and comes from childhood. It is a bond that cannot easily be broken.
2. Kanghee, the third person of the Trio and Jungwoon's eventual boyfriend. He's kind of not even there and he only shows up because Jungwoon does. He knows ML likes Jungwoon but he and ML have mutual respect and their friendship is like I said, super strong. He knows ML would never get in between then once he and Jungwoon became official. There is no toxicity at all between these 3 people. It's the saddest most mature love triangle I have ever seen. One where all 3 are adults who have a good grasp on rationality. If this were any other novel, he'd be our resident cold ceo who is only nice to mc.
3. Jang Euigon is a very real person. I'm sure everybody in the comments do not remember every single person who has entered their lives. Heck, I don't even remember the classmates who were in my homeroom for 3 years in a row. Muchless someone like Chiyoung who only exchanged a few words with him. Jang Euigon is nice and amiable to everyone. But he has boundaries. He is social able. But like Jang Euigon says, once he loves, he loves only one person. This is Jungwoon. And Eventually, Jang Euigon comes to love MC. It's a bit ironic that he never once seemed to lose control when it came to Jungwoon. But with Chiyoung, Jang Euigoon can't maintain a facade. I think he battles with himself over it for quite a few chapters. He's constantly thinking about how to get Chiyoung over to his house and sleeping in his laps using excuses. Or he's thinking lewd stuff or being jealous of girls and guys even when he knows Chiyoung is gay. But there is never for a moment where Euigon struggles with whether he likes Jungwoon or Chiyoung. Euigon is very clear about who he likes. Although I think the drunk scene caused readers to misunderstand that Euigon still liked Jungwoon (Chiyoung certainly did). However I am 100% certain that Euigon's drunk talk was about Chiyoung.
4. Chiyoung is just so real. I guess people can't imagine someone like Chiyoung because it's too depressing but fudge. I am a Chiyoung. A bit passive, a bit of a socially awkward person. Someone who can't say no. Someone who in a fight or flight situation, would just freeze. Chiyoung is just so tired. He's been grinding for 10 years. Fudge, his parents don't even live together anymore. His friends are all moved on and married with families. He's at a standstill, basically just grinding everyday and the debt makes him think he shouldn't have anything. I think for Chiyoung, Euigon represents a better time in his life. A bright warmth from bygone days.
I read the novel, and fudge. I cried alot through Chiyoung's monologues. I don't particularly think Euigon is a bad ML. Euigon is true to himself. I would fall for someone like Euigon too even though I would never receive any love back. It's the type of love where you don't dare to hope the other even knows your existence. I did find Jungwoon is extremely lucky. He must have saved a nation in his past life. The type of life anyone would be envious of. A great friend, a great lover, and a great family who enables him to pursue his own interests and careers. Yet it's also admirable that Jungwoon doesn't really display any entitlement.
I didn’t get to finish the novel, but you’re right!! People hate too much. I’m convinced ppl just hate real hard whenever the mc is in an unrequited love and the ML isn’t immediately head over heels for him back.
Anyways talking more about the novel:
I can see a big difference between his feelings for jungwoon and MC. With jungwoon, I believe it’s because of the fact that he was friends with him for so long, those feelings he had mellowed out as he realize he didn’t have any chance. He likely became more calm and came to terms with it unconsciously. He probably held onto those feelings because that’s all he ever knew for decades. I think his feelings leaned more to a comfortable friendship that he became satisfied with over time.
With MC, he’s the first/only person he fell for after being stuck in an unrequited love for years. He’s experiencing new feelings for a new person. Passion and pain he never felt with jungwoon. Feeling frustrated and anxious with him along with being happy and excited. It’s nice to know that even before he realize he gained feelings for mc, he thought of mc as a new precious person in his life. He wanted to treat mc well after their first “experience” and resolved to be friends in the mean time. I think what really sold me on his feelings for mc being 100% complete was when he got mad at jungwoon for letting mc be in danger and not telling him about it. It’s shows his priority became mc over his friends.
I don't really see the uke clinging to ML tbh. In the novel, UKE sees himself as more of a bystander. He's just there like a 3rd POV. He thinks what the Trio has is something he can't intrude into.
Jungwoon thinks MC is really nice. And Euigon notices that MC treats everyone really nice too. And that's just MC. He's polite, excessively polite, socially awkward, hardworking, and a bystander.
In MC's monlogues, he keeps telling himself he can't let himself fall for ML or hope for more. He should be satisfied with their friendship. What MC really clings to is his feelings for ML. But that too is a silent love that he doesn't really feel the need to act out on. Just one sidedly loving from a distance is good enough. Idk why people would find that pathetic. But that's just me hahaha.

Basically The British Monarchy and Russian Monarchy haha.
