This author never fails to disappoint... So good! I loved the metaphor for words being a powerful weapon taken to a supernatural point. Very interesting way to do it, and the fact the power only has potency when the one affected has even the little shred of want !!!
The relationship between the two is also chefs kiss. Very natural and I love the two different perspectives!
Love your praise for the author so just an FYI. When you say "never fails to ....", it actually means they "always fail at..."
When you break it down, it starts as "fails to disappoint me" (a complement). But when you add "never," that phrase becomes the opposite (because they are never able to do it).
So if you want to use "never fail" as a complement, it needs to end with a positive. Like "never fails to amaze me."
Sorry if it's very lecture-ish. I just hope that your comment is interpreted correctly since it's actually a complement.

IT'S BACK OMG
