It really bugs me when this author keeps trying to paint "they're just awkward" as a catch-all excuse for being a shitty parent. No matter what your intentions or what your thinking about, if your child grows up thinking that you hate them then you have 1000% failed. This isn't even the first time in this series... it seems to be a theme at this point.
I can't help but wonder just how much time passed between "demon lady's little sister is sick w/ incurable disease" -> "rando dragon finds out somehow and tells demon lady about a shot-in-the-dark cure for free" -> "demon lady researches a ton and fights to build up her gang and power" -> "demon lady finally finds the egg, loses it, finds the hatching and makes it back to the sister"....... After ALL THAT shouldn't the sister be in the ground by this point? She was malnourished, slightly poisoned, and sickly before getting said disease....
M theory: Rando dragon made the sister sick and is keeping her alive in this sick state to spur the demon lady into going and bringing back this thing that it needs but can't get itself. It will 100% kill off the sister and the demon lady once it gets the immortal meat.
I really dig the story line... but I wish this wasn't SO FUCKING RAPEY... like gotdamn... Why is there so much freaking sexual assault in this... and, of course, there's never any fighting back or punishment for the offenders....
That's some Black Company levels of dumping work on someone with exploding scope creep. Rimiru should know better but I guess he's unaware that this is all being dumped onto a single person, for the most part. I can't begin to imagine the amount of resentment and anger towards one's superiors this would generate if I were in Nemu's position...
I get the need to power scale... but early on the story presented armies w/ 18th century european level tech. cannons strapped to giant turtles and wyvern riders were presented as the height of military advancement. The Demon King and his armies were attacking in typical fantasy ways and the Japanese units were able to easily wipe them out but no other country seemed up to the task. Then they present some country that has late 19th century, early 20th century tech as being the most advanced the world has to offer. Some nasty woman from that country has a bunch of Japanese tourists murdered and her whole country gets wiped out.... and now we have countries with navel tech that's on par w/ WW2 era military might and advanced magic military tech... so where the hell were these countries in the beginning and why would anyone care about a fantasy level Demon King when that level of military tech was already in world w/o Japan?
The further this goes the more I think I should drop it...
I can't help but feel bad for Mary, or Marilyn, or Maria (why is the one character TL'd as being called 3 different names within the same chapter by the same characters?). The receptionist NEVER gets the guy if he has female party mates and only once in a blue moon if he's solo. It's a shame since she's looking so nice and was so excited for her date w/ Dense McThickskull. I don't really think it was necessary for the author to dedicate panels to just looking at her tits or her ass though...
