I think a lot of people don’t like this due to the rough start which imo, is understandable as ML has a bad personality. However, I do recommend giving this a try as the story itself is really good. I love how their personalities are portrayed and their decisions are all very in-character for them. I also like how the author hinted at Esdra being just as disgusted with commoners despite his gentlemanly facade.
It also occurred to me as I was catching up that this story probably takes inspiration from Cesare Borgia and Lucrezia Borgia’s rumors with a twist.

Hayasaka and Hodoka are really great leads, Hayasaka is very cool and his “coldness” isn’t overly done, he doesn’t have a sharp tongue or a foul face like the other cold ml’s and I appreciate how much he cares about his friend. Hodoka’s a really great Fl and super lovable honestly. Tbh I honestly thought Hayasaka liked watanabe at first cuz he said he understood FL’s feelings of liking the person who saved them lmao, but it’s a shoujo so it’s impossible.
Watanabe…honestly could’ve been better but he’s so frigging annoying and too much of a douchebag I honestly can’t find it in me to like him. It feels wrong for him to compare himself to Female Lead when Female lead doesn’t forcefully touch Hayasaka or constantly follows him or waits outside his house or constantly pesters him or forces him to go on dates with her without her consent. Meanwhile, watanabe does all of that stuff so honestly it’s just right for him to be ignored.
I would say Max is my type of guy but it would feel off for me knowing the guy I like/likes me/is pursuing me is so close to another woman to the point he’s been to her house, he drinks with her alone at night, night talks, secret meetings in the staircase, and gives her the same kind of gift he got me on my birthday….its suspicious if you don’t know the whole story haha. On another note, I think Max and Joy are quite similar.
Joy says she doesn’t want her partner to fall for her but its obvious she’s fallen in love and is subtly flirting, but it could also just be her personality mixed with her not being conscious of her feelings for max. Meanwhile Max says he doesn’t see Esther as a friend but he does everything a friend would do and more (I get why esther likes him).
I love love loveeee Goody two shoes FL okay, like I think they have a cute charm and I really prefer them over mary sues, but god this girl, this mc gets like 0 character development. A fl that allows herself to be slapped twice, doesnt even dodge or try to slap back. She is constantly degrading herself so many times, despite going through numerous arcs where she says “I’ll be better” or is told she’s not useless. It gets to a point where I START TO LOOK DOWN on her too.
