i liked mary ellen at first but then the author ruined her character by making her boy crazy and honestly a bad friend. bcs wdym she immediately got with the guy who your ‘bsf’ keeps saying is a bad person?? like idk but as a friend if my absolute bsf says she doesn’t like someone i immediately don’t like them either, and the fact that she got mad at kaitlyn bcs she obviously didn’t support the relationship was so weird to me. And then they just shove it under the rug once aiden gets his character development?? ALSO the fact the aiden was flirting with the fl at first and then got with her bsf is weird to me too but idk it might just be me

Power and influence don’t come only from taking concubines. Alliances can be built through loyal generals, ministers, political strategy, and public support too.
And if he was already younger and weaker than his brother, then blindly promising concubines wouldn’t suddenly make him stronger it would just mean he’s depending on the same system instead of building real influence.
So yes, he could have done it without turning every alliance into a marriage
i totally get where you’re coming from, but with how this started with a ruler showing complete and utter devotion to his wife, it was completely out of the blue to suddenly say he has concubines. I was kind of expecting more along the route of the joseon era type stories where the emperor decides to break the norms and not have concubines bcs he’s so in love yk? but i’m excited to see how the author plays around this, but i’ll definitely have to wait until it’s all resolved. unresolved misunderstandings and cliffhangers kill me lolol :p
