I don't dislike harem, highkey think it's fun when written well. But the thing with action series, especially written by/for men....

This has been a great series so far, no toxic masculinity so far as I'm concerned. All mentors having different personalities, GREAT art genuinely beautiful.

I was a little irked at the fact that female candidates were chosen but none were introduced as a formidable opponent, in fact I was wondering whether there weren't any female martial artists at all! But then they introduced Sou Zhen who simultaneously felt like a fresh breath of air but also a victim of misogyny unfortunately.

On one hand, out of all martial artists introduced so far, I don't think any of them wore anything against the typical martial arts uniform save for the demonic island master(? That old dude with wild hair) and a little cleavage here and there. But her outfit is not only not adhering to what martial artists wear but also to me it feels of the wrong era? Take this with a grain of salt because I don't know the dress culture and history anyway.

On the other hand, I see her character as the most unique of them all. Her being a woman is part of that, she's bold, unapologetic, dominant and scary! Like many other masters, she doubts Enxue's abilities but also does finally accept that he's a prodigy like a grown adult. However she treated him, it's clear to me that her team trusts her decisions.

Coming to Xiao Wu. While she doesn't seem to have martial prowess, they showed that her wit and observation skills make up for it. I don't dislike her either. They're both great characters.

My major concern is that so far... genuinely have only two female characters been introduced? In comparison to at least 10 male characters? I don't keep expectations towards male gaze media but this story is addicting, I hope they consider introducing more female characters OTHER THAN the potential love interests.

Who would've thought, that there would be harem in such a series? Where the supposed goal was to avenge his grandfather's death. I even thought to ship him with red eyeliner guy if they'd keep in contact. Will the mc's personality remain the same like so far or will having love interests change it? I hope nothing lecherous occurs or the harem thing depicted in a strange way.

Romance sub plot works well when planned out and harem can be a fun addition too. Series like SSS Suicide Hunter, and Regression Instructional Manual do it super well. They're not the best examples since they're a completely different genre but I can't remember martial arts series that can be applied to this.

While it is refreshing to see an immoral character not do a complete 180° after meeting their partner, Zigril takes it too the extreme.

Everytime he does that I just wish Kay would pack his stuff and elope with a woman– yk I've observed that the women in this series are very very open-minded which is funny asf. Like, you'd expect people to show discomfort towards queers but then the women around Kay are not afraid to pursue him even with the threat of his notorious tyrant of a husband!

I'm obsessed with their wit and courage,during the Helena arc I used to pray for her life because she was BOLD. Love that for her, even the red haired maid in the recent chapter? Shooting her shot in the open where anyone could see? Unbelievable. Back to the topic–

Zigril has mellowed out a lot after marriage, but not as much as I had expected. 3 years is not that long of a period but his love for Kay doesn't seem to have lessened so why doesn't he fix his behaviour too

This is the first time I'm reading a manhwa like this and I've been having an incredible time.

The whole aspect of women going extinct in BL is not a new trope but this artist/author managed to make it more interesting(?). Them not existing in person but more like mythical creatures, the grotesque depiction of "women-like demons", artificial wombs; the acknowledgement of women clearly being warriors in their time. It's like, they're appreciating every aspect of being a woman. Treating women like, gods in a way? At least that's how I felt, with women/females being responsible for creation of all beings science stuff.

Of course the Kimoto x Garon thing about how a "male" coaxes a "female" for the purpose of reproduction was strange. But the whole premise of this series is peculiar so it didn't hit in a negative way more than what society already does.

I did find it questionable, and so is the fact that they've extracted DNA from the most would-be powerful women in order to birth various offsprings while using the remaining humans' sperm. Felt like a rinse and repeat don't you think? Like, taking reference from the real world, women make up majority of the population(incredible imo yk, considering the femicide, infanticide, and other factors.)

I reckon society would take a BIG hit from their loss. But also the genetic variation is clearly drastically dwindling as we can see from Charin and Tehir, completely different individuals with different lives but born of the same cluster of artificial wombs. I wonder what factor would've decided that Charin have a fully(?) functioning uterus? And what's to say Tehir hasn't got one. I did notice that the red coloured growths on their body were in different patterns but couldn't guess whether it was supposed to be sexual dimorphism or just depend from person to person.

Another thing I really like, is that the author doesn't shy away from making all the characters interact with each other in a yk, 'Go ahead more shipping fodder for you' and all way. Who would've thought Jin and Garon wouldn't turn out to be the typical raped>forgive>love yaoi couple and that Jin has a whole another person in his heart! And the Kimoto x Garon sex was also insane. And the Hyehan and Garon bit? Funny and very welcomed.

For me all the characters were pretty chill, definitely visually my top favourite characters are Jin and Tehir but as the story progressed I found myself loving Kimoto more! It's my first time liking a character with visuals and personality like his so that makes this series even more entertaining. I don't think I dislike any character in particular, Garon was annoying at first but getting bred and falling in love tamed him, then Hyehan came and he was infuriating during his first appearance but watching him turn pathetic for Charin was very pleasing!

The series is super fun, i would've loved if they had dug more into the biogical aspect of life without women. (We all can imagine and social and economic disasters that would occur lol) At the end of the day, these are fictional 2d drawings and we're all here to release stress from our daily lives.

I started this webtoon cuz the artstyle and premise look great but the treatment towards the female characters... It doesn't outright sexualize or demean them but it doesn't really give them yk, I don't want to use the term personality, more like doesn't let them have their own worth.

Yeah the mc doesn't behave like trash towards them but that's basic decency.

Like, so far three female characters have been introduced. Tell me why are all of them reacting bashfully to the mc, and why do they always have something to do with "beauty" "marriage" "childcare". When the whole foundation of murim, last time I checked, was to let go of worldly desires.

Specially the part about The Bare Handed Jade Maiden, who changed her whole constitution to be able to conceive. Which is fine and all okay, not everyone is the same, not every woman wants to be childless.
But then Wang Soso, who going according to the mc is very young so I'm assuming early to late teens, also states that she wants to conceive and hug the man she'll marry. Of course, for people with disabilities that inhibit them from doing everyday things, it's not strange to yearn for intimacy platonic or otherwise. But..

It felt uncomfortable to me that for female characters(especially in this series where they're all from rich martial families aka they have resources and ability to dream beyond trad stuff), marriage seemed to be more important than martial arts in a martial arts series!
