I get why people have issues with Jinx,,especially with how Jaekyung treats Dan. The SA in here are uncomfortable and absolutely valid to criticize, and I’m not trying to downplay or trivialize that at all. It does affect the reading experience, and I understand why it turns people off.
But at the same time, the level of hate this manhwa gets feels really disproportionate compared to other BL or toxic trope-heavy stories out there. If you’ve read enough in the genre, you know that Jinx is honestly pretty average in terms of writing and tropes. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s also not uniquely terrible,,it follows a lot of the same patterns we’ve seen over and over again,,
Also,,What confuses me is how people talk about it like it’s the worst thing ever created, when there are other manhwas with equally (or more) problematic dynamics that don’t get nearly the same level of backlash. ((For example non zero sum;reverse thinking or indomitable champion,, I can’t think of the top of my head))
you can dislike Jinx..like that’s completely fair. But acting like it’s uniquely awful compared to everything else in the genre just doesn’t feel accurate. It’s a pretty standard BL story with flaws that are already common in the space, not some outlier that deserves to be singled out this heavily ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
