From my understanding, shounen ai is when there is no smut or explicit sexual scenes, correct? Is there a reason some BL, that also has 0 explicit scenes isn’t tagged as shounen ai? (By both mangago AND user tags?) or inform me better of what truly makes something shounen ai or not
Your understanding is correct. I'm just gonna assume the mislabelling is some sort of mistake. A manga I've read recently has a yaoi tag even tho it's shounen ai.
a lot of stories are mislabeled on here so sometimes its that, to add stories on here you have to send it to the devs with all the info, is not that reliable
Other times the stories change genre (it starts as shonen ai but future seasons/volumes are yaoi) and may be either previously tagged as yaoi even tho theres no smut or it kept the shonen ai tag even after the story turned +18
