I’m guessing the letter to Gabriel was his suicide note (Gabriel in the Bible is a messenger of God) which could symbolise how ashamed he is of himself that he can’t face God himself.
When he comes back to paradise, it’s the first time we see him actually talking to the ghosts as normally he runs away from them. So it’s like him accepting “paradise” which I think solidified his descent into madness.

Yeah the OG novel author nearly got in legal trouble in Korean for having an actual dog do that to Jiwook because beastiality is EXTREMELY illegal in that country (in some countries it isn’t which is concerning like tf??), but I think the author might have thought that it was only illegal if it was real people (not justifying it, but I can see where their possible confusion came from. It’s like how in my country, child porn depicting real children is illegal, but stuff like loli hentai isn’t)
