ok, after reading the first story (didn’t know that this was a side story of other characters), i think that this is a fine love story but takeo’s character came off a bit shallow. i think his feeling towards ao were fleeting and most likely derived from the fact that they knew each other for a long time. if he had a big crush on ao, he would’ve had a harder time accepting the fact that shingo and him were in a relationship, but, instead, the main take away he gathered from it was that guys could be in a relationship with one another and then he eventually fell for his childhood best friend. although, it sucks that the relationship started out experimental for takeo (like i think that before u get into a relationship you already have to be in for it 10% instead of just seeing what happens), though i’m sure that he undoubtedly loves waka now. it just didn’t feel like he truly realized how deeply waka felt (like, he’s liked him since they were children!!), and i think that this story deserved to be a bit longer just to give more time for takeo’s character development and to truly realize where waka was coming from and why he felt so anxious.

okay, i don’t think the sequel was as bad as people were making it out to be BUT i don’t think it was better than the original, obviously. i think one of the big things was the fact that we’re following a whole ass side plot for half the story with a character that we as the readers could honestly care less about. also, i understand that rou had said that he would “date” niko if he wasn’t single as a way to simply comfort him, but there were other ways he could go about it (e.g. saying he’s a good guy). i think this sequel was trying to show how much of an influence that dating has changed him based on the way he acts towards others and how he treats his lover, but if anything, i think it just makes rou feel stagnant in his character and no growth was really shown — rou isn’t conscious of how his actions could leave impressions, until ppl from the outside (like sui and niko) tell him to do something. imo, i think the premise of this sequel was bad and i only really liked the ending and the extra chapters because we finally get to see who the story was actually about: rou and yoshino. i think they deserved a better sequel because yes they both navigated an obstacle in their relationship, especially since they’re both rather new to it, but it’s obvious who’s the better partner and i feel like this sequel just kinda defeats rou’s initial character (or, rather, doesn’t really add to him), and it makes you question whether rou would drastically change later into their relationship. i love yoshino tho he’s such a cutie.
