He tried tho, he yelled at ilay saying he’ll be back but the loud explosions blocked it out, Xinlu was about to leave with jaeui, and Taeui wants to stay by his brother, so he probably left because he knows that ilay will find him someway, somehow.
But what he should’ve done, was to stay by ilay so they’re together, and then they can find and save jaeui. It’s not like jaeui can get hurt anyways, even a gun can’t kill him. Maybe tay probably forgot in the spur of the moment and was overstimulated by everything but there were many better ways to escape
